Has anyone used this stuff before? I've chucked it into the engine today and it made such a massive difference, on idle it runs so much smoother than before. I'd definitely recommend it.

I've never used it, but have been tempted, mostly when I walk past it in Halfords. Each time though i've decided against buying it as I figured it most likely does the same thing as the V-Power that I almost exclusively run my Polo on.

I run my car on either V-Power and Ultimate Unleaded, I thought it would be about the same. Difference is Massive, really really impressed with it.

When you say chucked it in the engine, how exactly do you do that?

Did you get loads of dark smoke coming out of your exhaust? (and if so do you think theres any chance this could clog up my new CAT?)

And finally, have you noticed any other differences other than idling?

You have to take the engine cover off, open the airbox where the air filter/BMC is and you need someone to get the engine to tickover i.e. 2000-2500 when the butterfly opens. Spray it in the open butterfly for a minute then wait for it to finish idling for 5 mins then redo it again until you use up whole spray can. After waiting the last 5 mins take it for a 10 minute drive. I've noticed the throttle response has gotten a lot better now as well.

how does it cost and how long does it last?

It's 20 pounds from Halfords and is meant to last for about a year, when you're meant to reuse it.

I got some a while back (for free) and thought it was all a gimmic. My mpg has gone up drastially (around 50 more miles per tank) and the car does seem to run nicer since. The performance does seem better, but (like an indction kit) it may just be in my head.

want better throttle response just get the throttle body cleaned make sure a mechanic dose it tho because if you mess the timing up you need a computer to set it back up again.

Does sound like a lot like cleaning the throttle body, but more expensive.

I'm seriously sceptical about this sort of stuff. One of my best mates dad, who was also a mechanic for 30 years says this type of stuff is a waste of cash. If your fuel injectors really need cleaned then you get dirt cheap carb cleaner that does the same job for about £2.

On the other hand, a friend of mine (art student, owned a mk2 golf) used to swear by it after he used it, and he used to buy it often. He said it made his car faster, cleaner and sounded better. He also recommended ekotec valves to me. (slight off topic, ecotekvalve.co.uk- a load of rubbish imho) but I think 10k is a serious gimmick. I mean £20, that's a lot of petrol and a fair bit of beer.

Sometimes the speel on the back of the can just doen't make sense. If cars really needed a 'boost' after 10k, it would be done as part of a service. Don't fall for it, spend your money wiser!

it is kind of like cleaning the throttle body but cleans some other bits too...kind of.

i got some before, it made a little difference but not much.

i then cleaned my throttle body and that made a HUGE difference. you don't need a computer to fix it if your idle messes up, you just reset your ecu or run it a while. i didn't reset my ecu, just ran it 100 miles or so and it sorted itself out.

you dont need someone to hold the idle to open the butterfly, reach behind it and theres the mechanism that operates it, you can just use your finger and open it from there by twisting the mechanism.
