right the plan is to buy a mk3 gt then put the g40 lump in but what mechanical bits do i need brakes etc. it will be a beauty i guarantee it! cheers guys new to the polo site.

welcome to the forum mate! good choice on the g40 lump!
would have thought you'd need engine, gearbox mainly but i think most people would recommend that you upgrade the brakes above the level of the g40 as the standard g40 brakes are pretty poor i've heard!

Best bet is to purchase the whole conversion
A lot of ppl are selling engine, box, loom and charger etc all as one instead of splitting so best to get all of that
Other bits depending how detailed you want to be but he is a list of certain G40 specific bits off top of my head
G40 Suspension 20 mm lower than normal
G40 brakes bigger
G40 TCA have uprated poly bushes
G40 Exhaust system has bigger bore than GT
G40 Speedo 160mph on the clock not 120mph
You can into further details depending if you want it to look like a G40
