Recently bought an Ipod video 30gb and Im having problems with the battery life on the thing.
Basically I charge it up til the battery symbol has the picture of a plug in it instead of a lightening power symbol. Then to turn it off I either hold down the play button or put it in sleep mode. But within a couple of hours (never longer than a day) the thing wont turn on because of no battery left.
Am I doing something wrong or is the thing faulty? No problem if it is as I have reciept and everything but my girlfriend does the same with her nano and it never loses power. Please help as im getting frustrated

Right three people saying that is good enough for me, back it goes!! Before I do though either putting it into sleep mode or holding down play/pause is the correct way to turn it off isnt it?

Yep pressing and holding play is right.

Go to http://depot.info.apple.com you can request service there - they will pick it up, fix it and send it back all free of charge :D

Or take it to an Apple Store if you have one nearby... They should be able to fix/swap it there.

You'd be amazed how useless apple stores are.

To replace the shell on my laptop I would have to leave my laptop with them, drive home 100 miles then go back two days later to pick it up as it cant be done through a main repair center that would pick the laptop up from me. I still havent done it :P

to me that battery sounds duff! the ipods battery life isn't as much as something like sony or creative but they should last longer than 2 hours! current video ipods are upto something like 12-16 hours battery life i do believe.

take it back to wherever you bought it and you should get a new one, the store or apple would probably run a diagnostics test first to confirm a fault but as its battery related theres not much a diagnostics test will show up. after that it shouldn't be a problem.
hope that helps mate, let us know how you get on!

Yeah will do guys. Ive had the thing less than a week so there shouldnt be a problem swapping it, I can understand needing to send it away after a couple of months but 5 days would be pushing it. Il check in tommorow with the results.

Well took it back today and they could see I'd had it less than a week so they gave me a straight swap and so far so good it seems to be holding its charge unlike the other one :D
