Hmmmm thinking about selling up!

As per the title, I'm considering selling up to change up to the
new Polo GTI. I quite fancy a "silver bird" silver three-door with the leather interior. My local dealership has a
5-door car that otherwise completely matches the spec I want so I will go look at it this week if I get time...
As for
my car, obviously it is modified so I would look to reverse some of these changes as follows:
* sell the BBS RM wheels or exchange for RX2s plus cash (amount depends on condition of RX wheels!)
* put the standard suspension back on and sell the FK coilovers separately
* change the de-locked handles for the original handles and sell separately
* remove the Audi TT pedals and sell separately
* remove genuine black VW badges (replace with stock silver badges) and sell separately
* sell winter wheels (currently garaged)
This would leave the Polo sporting the following modifications - in-dash OEM 6-CD changer, BMC air filter plus custom feed (original airbox also available), Powerflow stainless cat-back exhaust - I think thats it!
In this guise can I get around £4400? The car has 85500 miles, just passed its MOT with a clean bill of health, holds a full VW service history and was serviced in May this year including full oil and filter change plus brake fluid change. There are a handful of minor dings and scratches to the paint and body but nothing at all serious, just the usual daily-driver/seven-year old car issues! Cloth interior and manual A/C.

Personally I'd put the air intake back to standard, and sell the BMC seperately too. Due to them being fairly universal there's always demand for them.
As for RXIIs, I have a set that I'm in the process of refurbishing, with tyres, that I'm hoping to get finished once my dissertation is out the way this week.
As for a new Polo GTi, they're nice but when you're looking at figures of £12'000 or so I don't think I would be able to resist the temptation of an Audi S3.

Yes they are silverlines... crikey that's an early shout!
It might not happen until next year... but I'm definitely considering my options.

I fancy something a bit newer and a little bit quicker (with more tuning options!) but at the same time would like to stay in the scene, I know that sounds daft but I like this community and don't plan to abandon it just yet!
I can't quite stretch to affording the running costs and insurance group of the new Golf GTI but the Polo is a viable option. Still not too many around either, which is a plus. Coilovers will find their way onto the car pretty swiftly too assuming it doesn't invalidate any warranty.
Also my parents are eager for me to change for something newer too as they see it as putting a stop to me modifying my car... ha ha!
@ Rupy, regarding the RMs, they are coming off the car at the end of September/beginning of October for the change to winter rims and will go into storage until next year now. But I am interested in a swap plus cash deal with some RX2s in order to put the car back into a condition closer to standard in order to sell up. This can happen any time after I have switched to winter rims!

good to hear you plan on sticking around...but si if you plan on going to the next step why not make it a big step up so there is no looking back!
you would still be welcome at the meets with one of these beasts!! thats what i want next...or a clio v6 255 (alternatively a cupra R if sooner rather than later)
and come on there isnt much prettier than a mk4 r32!!! you could get one for the same price as a polo gti with 40k on the clock and barely worn in few years of life

The only two things to be feared with the R32 are, running costs, and insurance costs. Although I can afford the car itself if it comes in at the right price, I simply can't afford to run it!

Hopefully these thoughts have put an end to the idea of smoothing the tailgate then.
Si, may I ask, do you own your own house/flat? If not, I just can't see the point in paying £12k (or whatever it would be) on something that is only going to depreciate.

i think the price seems fair but you should leave the TT pedals and black badges, they make it look so much better

Hmm hadn't really thought of that sort of thing, ha! I don't own a house yet but would like to sort something out within the next two years
Spoke to my dealership today, they claim that the silverbird Polo I spotted has sold over the weekend (fair enough) and that it was the only one in the network with leather. So it may be a few weeks/months yet before something becomes available...

Tried to see one of the sales team at my dealership today but arrived a bit late (got stuck at work) and ended up not getting to see anyone (after spending about 30 minutes waiting!).
Been thinking about this and leather may add a bit too much to the cost of the car but we'll see. However the combination of silver bird paint and leather trim is a rare one it seems! So by the time one turns up, the price will have dropped another £1k
Going to head back to the dealership on Friday. They're going to value my car as part of the general proceedings, made me chuckle! I haven't prepared it for sale yet (and don't intend to for just a few weeks yet)...
After Edition38 I will see about starting to reverse some of the modifications I have made, i.e. badges, door handles, stubby aerial, the little bits and pieces.
