ive got the red gti. and seen pics with the black badges and think they look cool where is the best place to get them and is the best method to use fishing line to remove the old badge?
also whilst am naggin im tryin to get hold of a driver side washer jet cap as some1 drove into my car and it pinged off into a million pieces any help is much appreciated!

Re the VW badges, the genuine black badges are now discontinued so you will have to either source them second-hand or on eBay, alternatively you can spray a silver badge black.

The front GTI badge just un-clips from the grille. The rear GTI lettering is simple. Use a heat gun or hairdryer just for a couple of seconds to warm up the glue and then I used a length of cotton to remove the badge then removed the remaining adhesive with AutoGlym tar remover before cleaning and polishing the car to remove the final marks left behind.

ive had a scout on ebay and managed to find the one's i want just waitin for a reply from the seller see if they can merge shippin costs then i shall buy my 1st mod to my car lol

I've managed to get a brand new OEM front black badge - no more repainting the stone-chips DIY job

i lied i can only get the rear badge any1 know where to get the front black badge or are these like gold dust now to get hold of?

As Si stated above, they were discontinued a while back so there aren't many of them about.

They do occasionally appear on eBay, make sure you search from international sellers. Other than that, watch the for sale sections on forums or just paint a silver one.

Makes me think I should have bought a few OEM ones when I could.

i think a can of black spray paint will be the easy option. thanks

You'll need more than a can of black spray if you want it to last - I made the mistake of just doing mine in black and it's covered in stone chips.

I'm going to do it again, this time with plenty of primer, a few good coats of black and then many coats of clear lacquer!

Re the OEM front badges, if you DO find a genuine black one for sale you need to check that it is the right one. Take out the original silver grille badge and you'll see that the plastic mouldings behind the VW roundel are about an inch in depth. There is another badge of the same dimensions that has slimmer mouldings and I think may have been OEM for the Golf mk4?

That's what I was wondering with the one I found before, it's an OEM one for the Mk4 Golf but I did remember there being two different versions for the Golf.

yeh i found a few on ebay with for the golf and the 6n polo even tho there the same 10mm badge the fitting is different so no good

I agree with garnier, if you do end up having to spray a silver one make sure you give it a really good sanding first to remove the silver surface layer. Then primer, bit of a sanding to re-smooth, couple of black coats, and a couple (or more) of laquer. I didn't bother with the laquer the first time i did mine, but you'll regret it when it starts chipping! Also, don't be hasty - let it dry for a day or two until you can't smell the paint too much anymore.
