My cars at 56k now & going in for a regular 10k service next week, going to have to get the cambelt done soon too, either next week or in the next few thousand miles I guess.

Called a couple of VW specialists for a quote...

Cambelt + water pump change inc parts, labour & vat comes in at £300 from both GMS in maidstone & JKM in portsmouth (both vag specialists)

Is this the norm price or have people paid less or more? £300 seems a little steep for a job whoch takes prob 2.5 hours max?

Be interested to get an idea what you guys paid for yours!

I thought the cambelt takes longer than this normally.... isn't it an engine-out or something jobby?

price doesnt seem too bad mate, i work for an alfa romeo stealer and to fit a belt is supposed to take 4 hours but we can do them in 1.5 and they charge £400

Think im gonna have to call around a bit and see how good £300 is. I read somewhere it takes 2.5 hrs but that could be wrong!

I Normally sell cars before they need doing

My Passat cost about £150 labour and was 3.5 hours, and I think it's easier than the Polo.

Could be wrong though. Anything near £250 all in is good value.

VW said £432 all in but not including the water pump as they would only do it if it required doing! So thats extra!

Got another quote of £385 all in for belt+pump this afternoon so maybe £300 from the VW specialists was'nt so bad after all!
