Tips for removing tree sap from bodywork

I've got what appears and smells to be pine sap all over the roof of my car. Anyone had this problem before? It won't come off even with a gentle scrub (you know, those green pads: about as abrasive as I dared). However I've only used standard car shampoo so far at standard dilution.

Is there anything that can remove it without taking a layer of paint off? It's also on the glass as well.

I'll post a photo if that's going to help.

Use a clay bar to remove the tree sap, it will do the job just fine, but you will need to re-wax afterwards as it removes any existing wax on the paintwork.

Thanks for the tip. It could do with a re-wax anyway...
