Better Steering Wheel

Hi,
Every time I drive a newer car and get back in my Polo I always find the steering wheel looks a bit skinny with a small boss. I have looked at upgrades, but I don't want anything smaller (increases steering effort) just something a little more modern.
I was at Midland VW, where they had dozens of wheels off load of different VW's I was wondering if I could fit one of those. I like the meatyness of ones with airbags, resumably you can fit one of those without the bag obviously. The turn cancel looks right and the base is the same width. Anyone tried it?
