Hi Guys

I'm new on here and looking to buy a polo 9N, I've seen one I like and hopefully I'm going to take a look at it soon, however I can't find info on the service interval for this car anywhere?

The person selling it says it has FSH but its only got one stamp in the service book? They think that this is fine because the car has a long service interval?

The car is a 2003 with 28k miles, I think the car should have been serviced every year or 10k miles?

Do these cars have a variable service interval, or indeed an extended service interval similar to that of the renault clio?

Hi there Jon,

The car will be on long life servicing which basically means the car tells you when it needs a service. It does this by sensors monitoring the oil quality. The maximum is 18,000 miles (I think) or 2 years. Depending on what month in 2003 it was first bought I imagine the second service is imminent / overdue.

I've personally gone back to fixed servicing (10,000 miles / 1 year) as I don't like the idea of the same oil being used for 2 years and can budget for it. Also long life services seem to be quite pricey. I think you only get the benefit if doing well above the average annual mileage.
