GTI MK2? any1 done it?

Hi All,
iv got a mk2 polo and i want to put in a polo gti engine.
Iv got a few questions
1. can this done?
2. when did they start making polo GTI engine? (sorry if thats a dumb question)
3. What will i need to change? (engine mounts ect.)
Please post if you have any useful information?

think they were only made from 2000 until 2001

Polo 6n2 GTis were built between 1999-2001 (from 'V'-plate for the earliest cars to '51'-plate late-models, I have only seen one '02'-plate car that was sold on eBay).

I remember seeing a mk2 breadvan for sale on PistonHeads with a Lupo GTi conversion. Looked ratty as hell but undoubtedly shocked a few people at the lights etc
it was dark blue in colour and advertised in London.

I wouldnt bother....The GTI gearbox is crap.....
Get a Golf 1.8 20V turbo engine....would be much cheaper than a polo GTI engine, more reliable and easier to work with imho..
