Do the 280mm G60 Upgrade, its worth it.

I have EBC green stuff - i think there ok. Not used any other performace names , always had dealer stuff till now.

Neil, how much is a full conversion for the G60 brakes? Also how quick is it to change everything over?

You need to get some G60 carries (scrappy cheap cheap) or £100 new from VAG Parts.

This guy has the full setup : http://www.scottishvag.net/phpBB3/viewt ... 15&t=20600

For the price - 130 is very good. 2*Carriers & Calipers plus the pads and disks (BTW GTI calipers are the same as G60 - so maybe just keep urs)

I dont know the guy on scottish vag - just seen it the other day.

To change the carriers - 2 bolts. While you have the GTi ones of u fit the new disks - so not longer than fitting new disks and pads really.

As above, the G60 conversion is very easy to do.

Took me not very long at all, and that included fitting new discs and pads at the same time.

I used the guide from here: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12689

I would recommend the Black Diamond brakes pads, I have been impressed with those since fitting them all round.

compared to the standard gti brakes, how much better are the 280mm discs?

Cant comment really. Brakes on the GTI when i got it were done, and i done the 280mm with braided hoses straight away.

They have got to be way better anyway. Standard brakes are a joke, you have to brake 2 years before you get to a corner just to slow down

What's the biggest disc and caliper combo that'll fit with the standard wheels?

I was wondering if something like this would fit? 8)

Caliper - http://www.apracing.com/roadcar/caliper ... ily=CP5100

Disc - CP4348-894/5RD, Ø295 x 25mm, Drilled, 30 Vane.

Pad - http://www.apracing.com/car/brakepad/da ... =CP2340D51

I just fitted the standard G60 discs & they are ok. I will fit something like black Diamond or something similar when they need changing. :)

So what would i need? (i am assuming the se 16v calipers are the same as gti ones) g60 carriers, pads and discs? will probably give it a go after winter, but just need to find out a price as my discs and pads need changing anyway. oh and will they fit under 14" wheels?

Edit: had a look for g60 discs and they are £280  i am supposed to be looking at the 280mm ones aren't I :? + carriers £100 + pads £80 = a total of £340 from venom motorsport without carriers

Thanks,

Haris
