Hi all,

Ive recently brought a W reg polo GTi, im recieving it on wednesday (can't wait). I want to get the car looking good and this involves getting rid of some faded/weathered paint work around the boot handle. What is the best way to repair the paint work, are there any guides on this site.

Cheers in advance,

Dan

Hey, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purpose. The paint on the GTI shouldn't be faded unless it's had some major exposure to sunlight or a corrosive environment. A machine polisher would probably brighten up the paint work best. Check out this link, it should help a bit: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... olish.html . If it's just the boot lid handle it's probably corroded like on most GTI's, I just had to get mine repainted 8)

Its just round the handle, the paintwork is fine otherwise apart from a small stone chip on the bonnet. How much did it cost you to have the handle area repainted? With regards to the stone chip, are they hard to fix/touch up?

Not sure how much it cost as I got a heap of other jobs done. It shouldn't cost more than £30 I'd of thought for labour and materials. You could probably do it yourself cheaper. Touch up kits will get rid of stone chips but don't leave a perfect finish. Wet Sanding technique is better but it's risky and you can damage your paintwork if you don't know what your doing

there is just 1 really annoying chip right on the lip of the bonnet, im not sure that a stone has done it either as it seems too deep. thanks for the advice regarding the boot handle.
