Mobile Speed Cameras

So,

from how far away can they catch you? (the van type)

Would they be able to "see" over a hill?

My old man got caught from 200m away, as for seeing over a hill - could you see it? If so then it could probably see you.

I couldn't see it, but as soon as I could I went from "average outside lane of a british motorway" speed to below the speed limit (50mph dual carriage way) so hopefully nothing will have happened. It was probably 200-300 metres away when I saw it and braked

I have thought i'd been caught so many times in the past, but havent recieved one ticket yet...touch wood. To be honest you sound like you'll be alright...

same, ive been through a 30 camera at 50 and it didnt flash, lol
but if you dont get a ticket in 2 weeks then you havent been caught
sounds like u should be ok tho

the newer cameras dont flash anymore. I got caught doing 39 in a 30 in bristol. And instead of a fine and 3 points i had the option of paying £60 for tuition fees in a 3 hour speed school session!!


I now know everything there is to know about UKs speed laws and cameras!! haha

do they have to let you know in 2 weeks?i did a bit of research when i went through one at 80 or 90, i heard if they will take you to court or you are excessively speeding it can be months till you find out

They have 2 weeks in which to send you the Notice of Intended Prosecution and this has to be sent 1st class.

If you havn't receieved anything after 28 days you'll be fine

They have 6 months to prosecute but have to inform you within 14 days :wink:
