Castrol SLX Longlife II or III. VW recommended.

Can be castrol, or Quantum Longlife 3, which is £58.50 for 5 litres, but remember this oil can last as long as two years!!
Theres a possibilty its on normal Synta Silver 10w40, but if you do change it to fully synthetic (if not already), you will kinda have to keep it that way.

If you're doing it yourself then I guess you'll want to reset the service display manually.
And then I also presume you'll change the oil every 10k because you won't be on long-life servicing (no big deal)
If this is the case just get some semi-synthetic like Alex says. Not worth shelling out THAT much on oil that you replace in a year.

Or, get Fuchs oil from GSF (or is it GFS) if there is one local to you - this oil is meant to be what VAG use at factory and is a lot cheaper than the Quantum Synta equivalent - but is only sold in 4 litre containers - might be okay as your capacity is less than this (<3.0Ltrs). I've use Quantum Synta Gold 5-40 on all "my" cars but to change it every 12 months its getting a bit expensive so I was going to move to Fuchs and get it from GSF. I bought two containers of Titan 5-40 SL (fully synthetic) £15.90 ? for 4Ltrs but have yet to start using it. Another tip is to visit any VAG car shows where there are trader's stands - I did that last Sunday and bought Quantum Synta Gold 5-40 for £20 per 5Ltrs - so think ahead, it pays!

yeah thata's the place to go, I got my oil there last weekend but it was about £25 for 4 litres of 5W40 for the PD engine.
This 4 litre thing annoys me though. I'd rather have some spare to top up in the meantime. And it seems cheaper than it really is!
