The Polo spider rumours that will not die...

Today, pistonheads is running a round-up of cabrios coming during the next year or so and - lo and behold - polo spider's back up there - stating a Spring 2005 launch!
Old timers on this board might recall this whole possibility being discussed in some detail, but we'd largely come to the conclusion that the various images on the web were photoshops. See here for example.
But, pistonheads is always accurate with its news, so maybe this is happening after all.
Personally, I think they've got the wrong images.
If you go to the article here, and scroll down to the Volkswagen section, here's my thoughts on the pictures posted:
Polo spider picture - we'd discounted this as a photoshop due to the use of Lupo components - wheels, front valance.
Seat spider picture - This is a new picture to me!!! It looks much like a rebadged version of the blue VW spyder that appeared a few months back in AutoExpress. Note that the colour is the same as the 2000(2001?) Seat motorshow concept, but the general bonnet profile and the B pillars definately are straight off the VW concept (but we never saw pictures of this, only artists impressions).
Fabia cabrio picture - we've seen this picture before. My understanding is that it's a design study prepared by Skoda off their own back and rejected by VAG. Although briskoda's down right now, I do recall a passat based coupe that skoda did off their own back, which VW "rejected" and instead are rumoured to have taken for themselves for a future variant of the next passat. All rumours, mind you... But if VW were to follw that patterns for the Fabia vs the Polo, maybe it might just happen...
When I get home, I'll dig out the various pics I have of the pre-Concept R VW spider concept, the original Seat prototype so you can compare with the images in the article above and make your own comparisons...
Maybe it will be worth holding off on buying the next car for just a little bit longer...
