Hi all.
We have a polo that is very unique to the rest of the world.
Here are some specs of it compared to the mk4 golf.
And perhaps you could help me with some questions and things i've noted.

And for those of you saying that it's a seat ibiza, yes the body is the same.

Welcome to the forum!
The SA Polo "Playa" does look very much like a rebadged Ibiza, the Ibiza over here normally comes with a maximum of a 1.6 litre engine.
HOWEVER! They have done GTi's (2.0 16v - I think it had 150bhp) and until very recently they did the Cupra Sport (1.8T 150bhp and 180bhp versions!)
I suspect that if you could get your hands on an Ibiza 1.8T (180bhp) engine, it "should" fit! You'd have a VERY quick "playa" then!
I assume that gearing makes the Golf faster, as the Power to Weight Ratio on yours is higher... must be the gearing.
As to why the Playa is heavier than the Polo Saloon I really can't help! I would have thought that the boot would weigh it down!
Maybe yours has added safety features?
Anyway, I wonder if anyone else on the forum has heard of these before?
Do you have a Playa Forum in SA?
If not, I might have to add "Polo Playa" forum on here!
Thank you!
