I'm guessing this sort of a next car thread. I'm at least 2 years away from getting a new car, and that doesn't mean I'd be selling the GTI if I do.
Probably thinking of a newer Polo GTI and modding it. Tunability and the fact it is better standard than the 6N2 driving wise would be a logical step up. Step down is it doesn't look as natural as the 6N2, the GTI theme looks great but since the Golf has done it already it doesn't have the class of the 6N2 GTI, which looked better than a Mk4 GTI. Lack of Xenons and climatronic as standard isn't exactly a step forward either.
Mk5 Golf GTI is a cracking car, drove my Dad's a couple of times and a demo and its just such a good all rounder. A bit common though and would like to try other cars like the 225.
Something old and classic but still pretty fast could be my next car, as long as it is reliable. I've still got a desire to own a 70's/80's Ford or Dub of some sort (2.8i Brooklands Capri, any RS Escort stand out)

I don't have an ideal car - very few single cars can do everything well
So I own a few (*coughs

and use em for what they are best at that way I have always got an ideal car for whatever I need to do
Shouldn't have sold the estate car tho but I can sill get a 3000cc six cyl engine and all the ancillaries in the 7 series boot (closed too) so maybe I don't need an estate

A Ford Focus with a perpetual-motion engine installed. Other than that, I dream of a Nissan Micra, in white. Oh wait...

Yep, new shape S3 comes in white
My ideal car would be something I can't afford but as you want realistic answers it would be the new S3 or new R32
