Hi all, I'm new to this particular section of the forum (neen on the previous polo model).

I hopefiuly going to buy a 5dr 86ps FSI Sport. Just looking at the options list and here are a few things I would like to include:

Metallic/Pearl Effect Paint
Colour Pack
Rear Spioler
16" San Marino Alloys
Sunroof

Do you think that these are all worth it? Any recomondations?

Can someone post a photo of the VW spoiler?

I'd consider the auto dimming mirror with rain wiper sensor. for the money this is an excellent investment and works fantastically.

I'd also rather save some money and go for the Barcelonas, in my opinion I think they look smarter. The money you save could go towards the dimming mirror/wipers and even stetch to heated seats etc.

I've got the FSi too! I can't think of anything extra apart from the Spoiler and the Sunroof but you've got them listed.

I picked up a set of BBS wheels for £390 without tyres. They are very similar to the San Marino's but a lot cheaper. I got mine at GTi International, they are from the Golf III 20th Anniversary and also the Bora IV. You can get them even cheaper on ebay every now and then. But then getting wheels as an option with the car may be cheaper... I'll stop!

Yeah £715 is VERY steep even for wheel size upgrade, £205 is alot more resonable, what tyres do you get with them?

Nice Pics, Is the suspension standard?

On the Spoiler, has the high-level brakelight got LED's or is it like the standard high-level brakelight, with bulbs (only noticed when I saw the fade out of the bulbs the other day, and realised that they were filament bulbs).

The San Marinos are cool. They would look more at home once you drop the car on to the alloys

The sunroof would be good to have, but like Des said, the winter pack and auto mirror/rain sensor are superb.

Yes, the suspension is standard, although I may be dropping 50mm over the weekend.

The light in the spoiler is the same as the standard one. As far as I know they took the old one off,then refitted it on the spoiler.

What do people think of the VW body kit? has anyone got any photos showing rear, sides and front skirts. The reason for asking is that I'm not too keen on the matt black front (splitter) and rear (apron).

The leather gaiter on the handbrake, does it only come with leather interior?

The small leather pack comes as standard on the Sport. You'll get a leather clad steering wheel, leather handbrake grip and gearknob/gaiter.

I've got these and think they look really good, but I don't think they're worth the £700 odd quid. You'd be better off with the 16" Barcelonas for around £250. I got a good deal on mine, which is why i've got them

The tyres on both 16" wheel upgrades are 205/45 I believe. (mine certainly are).

As for other upgrades, definately get the colour pack for £75 and I like my heated seats which are part of the winter pack.

Another question do you think that VW will exchange both the 'Gamma' radio and CD changer for a single loader CD player (option (£204) for free? The CD changer alone costs £405.

I will never use the cassette and the CD changer but by not having the changer it will give a free up some space in the dash

I thought the single loader still sat in it's own slot beneath the radio/cassette? therefore not saving any room?

btw: Good to see someone else from Reading on here! (used to live in Reading, now just work here...)

They should swap it, VW did when I got my car. I kept the gamma, but changed the 6cd changer for the single without problems

Leonsmith is right, the single loader will not work without the gamma unit. Your best bet is to either buy an aftermarket unit with the same illumination collours, thus freeing up one din slot and allowing you to put the cubbybox in its place.

My stereo is the Blaupunkt Woodstock dab52 and the illumination is spot on. I also know that Kenwood do stereos with VW matched illumination.
