The Search Function

Possible silly question but i've always wondered.

how to do you search for a two or more word phrase without the results coming up for just one of the words?

for example, I want to search Gearbox Oil

if you simply search Gearbox Oil you get a host of results with some just finding gearbox some just finding oil and only a few for the full phrase gearbox oil

I've tried using methods such as

gearbox AND oil

and

"gearbox oil"

but none seem to work, am i missing some unwritten rule here? How do i get the search function to find threads only with the phrase Gearbox Oil in?

there's an option to tick that says match ALL words, I think

"Search for all terms"

i just tried that and i'm still getting results for just "gearbox" and "oil"

not just "gearbox oil"

mind you it does generate a different list of results?

yeah it'll be looking for both words but not as a phrase

rather than either word

sorry, I don't think you can do the exact phrase

Yeah, that's just the way phpBB is.

It's a pity google doesn't index this site, then you could use google for "GEARBOX OIL" site:tigerstyle.co.uk
