im looking for a phone mount for my dash board, so i can make use of the sat nav on my phone etc. i don't want one that sticks to the window, i want something like this one:

http://www.dsldevelopments.com/SiteGFX/ ... 2689-4.jpg

this one however is only for cars with that line of buttons under the stereo, which the GTI obviously doesnt have.

you then click (or maybe bolt) this onto it:

anyone know anywhere to get something along these lines which will fit onto the gti? not managed to find anything as of yet.

thanks guys

I had one of these in the GTi:

But I'd suggest one of these instead:

cheers Josh.

would it not be this one though, as the GTI has the cup and coin holders:

was the dashmount one any good? it looks to be in a better position, the brodit one may get in the way if the cup holder opening.

thanks

i dunno it looks ok in the diagram on the left, you can see the cubby hole and the coin and drinks holders on that, the pictures just use a differenytly layed out car

ordered one of these on saturday evening from dsl developments and it arrived today. just fitted it and its excellent! well positioned and easy to install. it doesnt get in the way of the cup holder either, which i kinda worried it might.

so if anyones looking for a phone dash mount i'd highly reccomend getting one of these Brodit ones.

they do one for cars without the cupholder and coin holder. just make sure you get the right one! it should be item number 652832 on www.dsldevelopments.com that you need then.

Hey mate, I've got an N95 8GB with a copy of Sygic Drive. Just wanted to know if you had a similar phone and does it get a strong GPS signal being this low down in the car?

Hi Dan

i too have an N95. I use the sat nav which is come pre installed (well it did on O2) and it works fine. Usually takes a few mins to get a GPS signal but works fine once its found it. I go into Tools and GPS data first, let it find a signal, then go onto the sat nav.

hope this helps.

Cheers mate. I was shopping last night at Tesco and stumbled upon a 'Universal Phone Cradle'. It was £4.97 so thought bugger it.....and it fits like a charm!
Holds the phone well and fits perfectly into the centre air vent with very little movement going around corners :D

Very happy with my 'budget' purchase!
