Are they the best size for an 8J wheel? I want optimum stretch! Anyone know where I can get some of these, or a rough price?
Having some problems sourcing them.
If not what about 165/50 15, or 195/45 15?

165/45/15 i searched and couldn't find anything, 165/50/15 bridgestones are your best bet if you want absolutely silly amounts of strech which is probably unsafe on a 8J rim. they are £150 delivered btw. other options are 185/45/15?
hope that helps,
Haris

165/55/15 is poss on an 8J or a 165/60/15
I had 165/50/15s on my 7J cups and that was a decent enough stretch. When i had them taken off last week kwikfit were a little stunned as to how it was possible lol!!

i wouldnt go for 165/50's it will knock your speedo out a bit, stick with 195/45's if i were you...they are best for a gti on 15's, if you want stretch go buy some staggered RM's
and alex kwik fit are a bunch of cocks, i dont know if i told you but when i got my RM's they refused to put 195/45's on even though the fronts were only 7J so not even any stretch, they said they couldnt believe i asked & it was extremely dangerous....the idiot then went on to tell me my whole driveshaft was buggered....not that the outerlip was slighly bent..stupid numpty

i'm not sure about the et but 8's on the rear would be perfect stance, mine were 7 & 7.5 like you said wit 195/45's a slight stretch on the rear, what you got lined up?

as shantybeater said kwikfit are cocks. i remember i went in there once about a year ago to get my wheel camber thingy set and cause it was out my tyres were worn so he said im not gonna do the camber unless u have new tyres so i thought thats fair enough so i did the new tyres and then as the wheels were of he told me the brakes were worn so i needed new discs and pads on the front......... i ended up having a £300 bill........... i was not a happy bunny..... same as motest.. i dont use them anymore as i feel they rip people of all the time..... 2 years i took my car there for its mot and it failed both times...... now i use swiftest just down my road.... never any problems....... and for tures i dont go to sh!tfit anymore but farnham tyres and exhausts as i live near farnham in aldershot anyway and always find them good to...... had my mot today and new it would fail on the front tyres so i got the new tyres...... theyre called coopers the ones on the front. friendly and kind service...... didnt tell me i need it dont but ask if i wanted it done as the camber was out and they showed me the read out sheet.

I've found some 8X15 Compomotive TH monos, with 195/45s on, really tempted to purchase, but alot of things to figure out first!

lol they were fine when i went there. The guys i had doing my car were dub nuts actually which was quite amusing

I only used them as a one off though as I couldnt get a set of 4 on a Sunday anywhere else. Normally i use Formula One just down the road from me. They are usually pretty good, and competitively priced (though they never keep 4 of any tyre in stock dammit!!)

if you could stretch 165/45 15 Tyres onto an 8j rim, i suspect you would die at the first corner you get to above 40 mph (although your speedo would read more like 50mph)

I think you may experience some issues if you wanted the car low? But it would also depend on your tyre width choice.
This gti was running a set of 7J's which were I assume et32:

I'm running 195x45x15 on an 8" wide rim and on a 8.5" rim wit an ET of 20 all round.
I'm running Dunlop SP9000 but they are not availabe anymore.
There is a replacement tyre that Dunlop has released though.
