Hi guys,
just ordered a couple of new wingmirror covers from VW - and a can of red spray paint.
as they already come primed i guess i just build up light layers of paint yeh? do i need to sand em in between? and then is it just a case of spraying laquer on top?
just want to make a good job of them!!
thanks for any advice guys

Take it to a bodyshop, they'll only charge 20 quid. ish....

I'd advise taking it to the bodyshop too,
I painted mine myself at first, starting from scratch
once full primed I applied several layers of paint, only sanding down every 3 coats or so (using 1200 grit i think?)
Then you gotta apply heavy coats of laquer, its hard because if you apply the coat too heavy it drips (absolute b*tch when that happens!), I sanded inbetween coats on these, and couldn't get the finish right so eventually gave up and took it to a professional who did it for £16!

yeh experience with paintwork on my old mk3 golf gti tells me you shouldnt bother. took me ages, thought it would be ok, spent loads on materials. just looked shyte (was a grill) ended up paying a body shop less than it cost me to buy all the stuff i think!

yeh exactly, although its satisfying doing it yourself, it'll cost just as much plus won't look as good as getting it done properly!
