This came up a few days back. The chrome surrounds cannot be bought seperately unless you want to spend £200 on a whole new dial set, which you cant just purchase anyway as there is alot of security issues surrounding those.
The bottom line is - unless you find a scrap GTI, its just not possible

Youd have to totally dissasemble the clock assembly. Why spend so much on new clock just for chromed plastic - you could just get super high shine metallic spray paint or chroming spray and do it yourself!

All possible, just need patience, masking tape and the correct spray.

you can fit the GTi clocks, but iirc it'll carry over the GTi milage etc

As tim says, yes it will carry over the mileage. Plus if yours is an MPI, the loom is different to the 16V/GTI loom for the clocks.

Dials have to come direct from a dealer if new, and they have to be chassis programmed. Its not as simple as it looks with new clocks....theres alot of procedures that have to be followed.
