Well as i type this, im currently stuck on the A3 near waterlooville waiting for a recovery truck to take me and my sick car home

I went to get my leather interior this morning, to find that the rear bench was never going to fit in due to the fact it was too wide, so i left and started to make my way homeward bound.

So im driving along, exhaust still blowing even though I fixed it last week, its gone again! and i try and change into fourth - the gear goes in without even depressing the clutch, and the car suddenly starts to slow down so im like s**t! what in the hell is going on

Luckily a layby is close so i manage to get in there. After a few phonecalls to recovery and that, my mechanic runs through a few checks - the clutch has exploded, so neither friction plate is in one piece anymore

The second time in two weeks where i have a car that isnt driveable...first the pedal box and now this - i mean come on, give me a break!!

Anyway rant over...ill just carry on patiently waiting for the recovery truck to come and take me home.

lol i had my macbook with me and my webnwalk mobile broadband modem with me too Gotta love being prepared!

So im told its about £200 to fix, and im gonna get some extra mechanical bits and bobs fixed at the same time so fingers crossed ill have it back by thursday afternoon - but jees 2 hours on a recovery truck home! Its painful

Absolutely sucks dude, including the fact that VR6 rear don't fit in polos!!

Hope it goes well with the fix, and you dont get f*cked over like my last visit to the garage!

Haha yeh I like to look at it like that too, doesnt always work though

Well its fixed at last. It turns out the clutch plate did exploded - there was nothing left than the metal inner. The friction plate had turned to dust (literally!)

It only cost £150 to get fixed, and that was with a new exhaust sleeve and a new aux drivebelt too - bargain!!

Ill take a pic of the clutch...well whats left of it....tomorrow to show you all what a lovely bit of damage happened!

The last time i broke down was with a mate.about 300 miles from home,10pm at night in a car he'd bought about 30minutes previously.

waited an hour for recovery,who towed us to the nearest services to wait for the recovery truck. sat in the car and the truck arrived 8 hours later!

Next time, we're trailering it!

My worst is 5 1/2 hours sitting by the A50 outside Stoke on trent when my heater matrix blew in the GTi!!

p.s RAC are awful
