VW Polo 1000cc coupe 93 L reg - Oil and temp lights stay on?

Hi, my coupe's oil and temp light stay on when running and do not go out? The engine is great with no noises or rattles...what could this be? a sensor or wiring fault? Help is very much appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a wiring problem to me. I'd check the circuit board behind the dashboard for any damage - the circuit (or tracks) are stuck on a flimsy piece of plastic which attaches to the back of the clocks. Could somehow have been damaged. That's all I can think of anyway. Is the temperature gauge working as it should?
