Try Yokohama S-Drive....They stick like hot sh1t! Rather expensive...but worth it!

Personally I found Toyo's pretty awful once a couple of mm had worn off them, especially in the damp/wet.
Currently have Michelin Pilot Exalto's (PE2's) on the front and Goodyear F1's on the rear, although these will be replaced soon with a pair of the former, as I prefer the Michelins. IMO you get what you pay for at the end of the day, Toyo's are cheap for a reason.

As with mk4 glx 1.6 I'm running Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's. I'd recommend them. I haven't had a dodgy moment at all recently. Especially weird considering the awful weather.
I had good experience in the past with Yokohama A539's but they wear too quickly for my liking. I've been told this by others as well driving a fair old range of cars, and I think they'd agree the same about Toyo's, which are good, but again wear quicker. It most likely to do with the softer materials used. Also I've tried Yokohama Parada Spec 2's (which may be branded as Advan's now - not sure), and they wear ridiculously quick.
For comparison the Parada Spec 2's lasted about 6-7K miles, the A539's about 9K-10K Miles. And from the other end of things a set of Continental SportContact 's which were on my Mk5 Golf still had a bit of tread after about 25K miles! - Although these were not great tyres they were predictable, and I'd recommend them more highly than the Yokohama's if you want that quality - the Parada Spec 2's considering their relatively high price were awful in wet weather.
If the Michelin's last somewhere in between I'll be more than happy - say 14-15K miles, and if more than that brilliant, although I'll be interested to see how they feel at that point.

I've got the T1Rs. They're great in the dry, very grippy, not so good in the wet. Not dangerous at all but you just can't have the same confidence in them as you would the Goodyear or the Michelin.

ive got the T1Rs at the moment and not keen on them in the wet either, and it doesn't help living in scotland when its wet most of the year
