Hi all. I'm a 6N2 gti owner from Hong Kong. I'd enjoying reading the forum very much as there is no dedicated forum for 6N2 gti in HK.

I've some problem and in need of help. My rear windows got electricalised with an aftermarket kit by the dealer before it was delivered to me and they remove the manual winder.

Lately the electrical window motor seems to have problem - loud grinding noise on operating. I want to try restoring it to manual winding. I think I should be able to grab the parts (winders and bolts) to refix it from vagparts?

Thanks to the DIY guide i was able to remove the door card intact and then i found this.

Before i can get access to the window component I need to remove the padding which seems fixed by those clips marked in arrows.

Could anyone kindly please advise on how to remove those clips? I've try pulling it out but unsuccessful, and searching the forum and couldn't found any guide for this.

Can you get a close up of the clips? as in the front of my car i have this and will be a simple case of pulling it off as its only held on with adhesive, this should be the same case, if there they clips i'm thinking off, they have two small holes on top of them, try twisting with your fingers! and they should screw off!

the clips have a cut out the just push off. as for the padding its stuck down just give it a pull and it will come unstuck but it may rip! just be careful

Heat the metal next to the padding with a hair dryer (be careful not to melt the foam padding), it will soften the adhesive holding on the foam panel making it easier to take off. Maybe HK is hot enough in the sun that the hair dryer isn't necessary :)

Thanks all. I think i've got it.

I just need to push off the black part of the clip thru the cut out (I've tried that before and a white part is exposed).

Initially I think i had to remove the white part as well before removing the padding so I try to pull / twist / unscrewing moves which all failed (to remove the white part of the clip).

Now I understand that I just need to remove the black part and then carefully remove the padding 'through' the 'white part' of the clip. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I was thinking of a sharp edge device like a paper cutter to remove the adhesive initially. With Sylvester recommendation probably I'll try the hairdryer 1st... and lately it is cold ~10 degrees centigrade in HongKong.

I'd try carefully cutting it off, then using the hairdryer to heat up the adhesive and re-seal it afterwards?

Thank you very much for the re-sealing tip, Tim.
