Whats the wear rate on these tyres like?
Also how comfortable would it be on 205/40/17?
Eagle F1 GS-D3
One of the best tyres on the market in my honest opinion. I've had them on a number of my cars (GSD-3's). Average wear has been 10k (soft compound), but could be either side depending on how hard the car is driven.
They're pretty comfortable too, somewhat quieter than other equivalent Dunlops, Michellin's.

I run 215 40 r17 Eagle F1 GS-D3's ride is ok, only harsh when going over particularly bad roads. I am still running standard suspension though. Wear aint too bad either, but not great. I think I'll be on my own here but I'm not really that impressed with them as a tyre. Dont get me wrong they are better than standard, but not what I was expecting at all. I wont be putting them on again.

15K from GSD3s is a big ask. And imo and experience, from half worn to nothing, they are merely average.
I recently just renewed the front Continental Sport Contact 2s on my VR6 turbo, which covered 16K quite comfortably. I replaced them with Sport Contact 3s, which are even better, so if you're after that kind of lifespan, it's a tyre I can recommend.
We also have Sport contacts on our Polo GTI and they are lasting very well too.
Expensive tyres, but worth it imo.
