cant find anything on search, can anyone confirm that a 5 door standard interior will go in a 3 door car?

it will im pretty sure the only fing is tho u wont be able to fold the front seat up to get people in the back !!

Yeh the seats are the same, but the 5-doors don't fold back like the 3-doors do. However if you run your hand over the side of the seat you can feel where the hole is for the lever to go, so perhaps it is reasonably easy to attach it?

have done this in older vws (mk2 & 3 golf) and on those cars all the seats are the same, just in a 5 door they cover over where the levers go but underneath all the mechanism is present to make the seat tip forward. so you should just need to get the relevent handles and surrounding trims from the dealers, make a slice in the cloth and attach.

You could check for sure though with the seats out of the car. you will probable see there is a hook at either side on the rear of the base, connected to eachother by a rod. one end should have a cable on it whuch goes to where the release handle would be. if you release these hooks then the seat should tip.

(well this is how it works on the older cars anyway, if its tims seats you are after you could ask him to check, he might not mind whipping one out if it means he gets the sale )

must have found some leather then! mk3 golf seats will bolt straight in too by the way.

i've heard from somewhere that if you have seats in the front of a 3 door that don't fold forward (ie- from a 5 door) then it could fail the MOT as the rear seat occupants would not be able to easily escape the car in an accident!
not sure how how accurate this is though

Yeh that does make sense actually, I get so claustaphobic (sp) in the back of 3-doors sometimes, woud hate for that to happen!

The front door cards won't fit. They are slightly shorter on the 5 door.

He's just on about the seats mate , but yeh the doorcards are completely different on the 3-door and 5-door
