Hi guys sorry if im posting in the wrong place i'm very new to this.
So i'm currently looking for a first car, i've focused much of my search on clio's, saxo VTR's and Polo's and final decided that a polo is the one for me.
So i'm currently looking for a Polo and have around £2000-2500 to spend. Just wondering if you can point me in the right direction and what i could be getting for my money..
Ideally i would like to kit it out, nothing special just a lowering kit and some decent wheels i guess...

You would be able to get a brilliant little mk4 for that kind of money, or buy a cheap one then do it up with the rest of the cash.

Just to check, you have taken into account insurance, tax, service and MOT haven't you, engine size (no more than 1.4 for beginner IMO)? You might be better saving some cash as your first car has a high risk of being smashed to bits.

You might be able to get a MK5 for that sort of cash though, i'm not sure.

Sweet, my first insurance payment (on this polo, first car) is £1400 so your estimate is about right. Thats for a 1.4 however, obviously you would pay less for a lower powered car.

If I was in your position, i'd get myself a nice little MK4, drop it a couple of inches, new alloys and some clear indicators. Save the rest on insurance and any issues you might have.

However this mark 5 looks like a nice one in your price range.

Well the thing is, you could easily get a mk4 and fix any issues, sport it up a bit etc or you could get a MK5 and stick with it how it is until you get the cash. You'll be suprised what you can do for little money on a car like these, I think i've spent about £50 in the last year on modifying the exterior as i'd still got to get new alloys (currently on the tacky steels) and lowering.

I'm sure some other guys will have more experience than me so i'll let them answer any other questions

i thought about selling my car. its a 1 litre x reg (mk5) 5 door modified. was thinking of selling i but not sure. i want something faster but dont want to get rid of it as i done everything myself to it so its 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

Welcome to the site mate, should find a very decent car with that amount of cash. If you've been looking at VTR's etc then i'm guessing your looking for something sporty? Well in that case you can get a very mint and probably already modified 16v. Some of the best modified 16v's go for just above that price range.

The usual 1.4 won't feel fast at all BUT the 16v is a great little car which keenly revs its way up the range and has good power. Furthermore its also a 1.4L engine.

Yup, what he said! used to have a 16v dub myself. insurance was £1400 3rd party, fire and theft when i was 17, so your insurance estimate is spot on! for that kind of money you could get a very nice 16v and do it up if it isnt already modded. one in black or dragon green........
