Central Locking Pumps

My pump is working at the moment but is prone to stopping, usually at the most inconveinient times.

I know that some people (JoeG07 is one I think) who have replaced the pump. I have looked at the code on my pump and it is 1HO 962 257 F.

Looking around I have found other pump but having real problems finding that code with the F on the end. I have found loads of G's and D's but no F's.

Anyone who has replaced the pump, did you get exactly the same code?
Or alternatively does anyone know the difference between the codes?

tbh m8, dont bother looking for one with the same part number. best bet go on Ebay and buy a Golf Mk3 one. I did it and its 100% working fine. its also a lot cheaper. I got mine for like £15 :)

Does it not matter that there are a different number of pins in the connector?

the MK3 Golf jus works m8. It has all the connector pins in, but the polo only uses a certain few. Work a treat

I bought a c/l pump on ebay which says for "Corrado Golf VR6 GTI" and the pump only has the code 1H0 962 257 with no suffix letter (and has an 11 pin connector)

The pump has a thin outlet pipe as opposed to the mushroom shaped ones Image

If anyone is as dumb as myself and bought one of the above and can't attach it to the exsisting blue pipe, here's my improvised solution:
Get yourself some tubing for a fish tank air pump, they're standard size (5mm diameter with a 3.5mm whole).
You only need about an inch of the pipe so its a very cheap solution.
You'll need to soak one end of the tubing in boiling hot water (use a thermos flask to carry the water to your car) for about 30secs.
Dry off, then work the tubing onto the blue pipe, the further up you can get it the better. Plus if you get it high enough, you can secure it with a cable tie.
The other end can be worked onto the outlet of the pump and secured with a cable tie.
And voila! Your central locking should work now.
Apparently, the 11pin pumps are supposed to be more "common" and cheap (however, I dont see as many on ebay) so if you cant find a decently priced 12/8 pin pump, you can cheap it out with my method :lol:

Now, I have to fix my fuel cap lock which has suddenly split along the seam :x
