As above, get your wheels balanced

i only had my tracking and wheels balanced not long ago.. about 2 weeks ago, but this was on the original gti wheels, so can changing rims make a difference and require wheels balanced?

Er yes, everytime you change your wheels/tyres they should be balanced. Balancing wheels is where weights are placed on the Rim (on the inside edge). Hopefully this website can explain it to you better
http://www.familycar.com/CarCare/AlignmentBalance.htm
Hope that helps.

I had similar problems on my old wheels.
If you still have problems after tracking/wheel alignment, it may mean one of your wheels is buckled, which is what i had
Good excuse for me to get new wheels though

thanks for that luke
understand it a bit better now

it seems like the symptoms are of wheel balancing, so i shall be getting that done soon
i dont have spigit rings on though right now, not sure if i should get them done before i put them on?
car is in the garage today though for diagnosis, doesnt seem to start sometimes

think it might be the temperature sensor playing up
lol good excuse for new wheels neil, what wheels are you running now then?

Do the new wheels you've got need spigot rings?
If they do and you're running without them, that would cause problems such as shaking and vibration.

yeah the new wheels do require spigot rings, so i guess that could have an effect on the shaking aswell?
il need to order some spigot rings in, if not then get my wheels balanced[/quote]

Yeah that's the best way of doing it.
Get the spigot rings on, and if it's still doing it then look at balancing.
