I had my new springs fitted today plus some new tyres on the front!
They ar ethe Eibach -50mm ones that I wanted to sell but then decided to get fitted instead

VW garage fitted them and cover it under warrenty. Plus didn't cost any more on the insurance.

Nice! How much did it cost from VW cos I want to get mine done but not 50mm I dont think cos of all the road humps by me.

How comfortable is your ride now with it?

i was under the impression vw only approve a max of 30mm,

I took it to a VW approved garage locally who cover warrenty work.

The warrenty isn't affected but if anything happens to the springs themselves I would need to pay for a new set. If that makes sense...

They checked earlier in the week to make sure they were what said they were so they could re order them if anything should happen.

They charged £30 per hour. Quoted 3 but only took 2.

I'm with Tesco insurance. As long as they are fitted by an Authorised Dealer/Garage and cost less than £250 parts & labour it was no extra cost. The alloys didn't cost any extra either.

Oh, and I feel no difference in the ride quality. Although cornering is a lot more fun. I've tried out a number of speed bumps around me and I have no problems, even with the mud flaps.

I think you're alright with the ones you have. I got lucky. I think, having them covered. Otherwise I would have gone with the 30mm.

Oh! and they are actually Red! Arn't the 30mm ones Blue? and the standard ones Black?

I'm not sure what the ride quality would be like without the sports suspension.

Gimme a week and see if I manage to break it!

Nice one James. Im thinking of going with Tesco or Elephant this year as im with my Dad at the moment.

Elephant in December was £835 for me just been on today and its gone up to £1200 for some reason?
Went on Tesco and its £905 so will go with whoever is cheapest.

I might get VW to put some 50MM ones on as compensation cos they've had my car 5 weeks now

Ive got the sports suspension so am I right in thinking that if the sports is 20mm lower than standard, 50mm springs will drop it an extra 30mm to what I got now??

If you say there is no difference in the ride I might go for the 50mm.

Just out of curiosity.. What size wheels do you have on your car and did they cover the suspension even though you didn't buy it direct from them??

The wheels are 16". I've been thinking about getting the BBS RX2 17's which are the same design but can't afford them at the moment.

As far as I understand... The springs themselves are covered under warrenty by Eibach for 1 year. The rest of the suspension will be covered by the garage even if it's the fault of the springs. But I guess that's down to the garage themselves as the first one I asked said they wouldn't.

How much did those springs cost you and where from?

My car arrives in less than two weeks so maybe they can fit them if I order some in time!!

I got them for just over £100 from ebay (germany). You can also get them from Eibach dealers in the UK, the cheapest I've seen are £140 but I didn't look around much.

They are the Sport Line ones not Pro. 45-50 Front 35-40 Rear.

After around 6 weeks now they have set in really well, the car looks even lower. The ride didn't change much at all, less body roll. Although I've heard fitting them to the standard suspension (not the sports suspension) can be a bit of a rough ride.

what model of polo have you got? (engine and trim wise) im after new wheels but dont want arch mods or suspension drops as there are so many speed bumps in my area!

Maybe I'll leave it then. Unless there is a cheap sports suspension solution for the Polo.

I guess it's not worth sacrificing the ride for a lower look unless I had sports suspension...

Neil had the Eibach pro springs on his 1.2 up to 35mm lower. They looked the part and I think the ride was pretty good. There are other alternatives...
