Getting wheels refurbed...who to trust?

Im seriously considering getting my wheels refurbished...they desperatly need it!

I want to get the rims polished/hi gloss silver and the centers just normal silver so they look "standard(Ish)"...

Im struggling to find a company in the Herefordshire, Worcestershire area (Possibly as far as B-ham)....Who can do a decent job of it without wripping me off....

Does anyone know of any companies in the area?

And also, do standard MK4 and Mk5 steel wheels fit on the GTI? I need something to simply "prop up" the GTI whilst the alloys are off being fixed.

Or if someone has a set of decent standard wheels for sale...might consider taking them off your hands.

I don't have first hand experience, but I know a few people who have used this company and I've only ever heard positive things said about them:

I have used them in the past. Cost me £40 ea to do my GTI rims which were diamond cut rims and powder coated centres. One of the rims had a bid dent which was sorted out at the same time. I did spilt the rims myself whch helped to keep costs down.

They are well worth a visit IMHO.

Chears for that.

I travelled from Portmouth. It was worth the trip.

That's where I plan to take mine when I get mine done.

VR6 South - What was the turn over rate with yours?

I was originally quoted a week but they were busy so it was 10 days in the end. I did take 12 wheels though :)

just had mine done - prestige wheels in furness vale, so not local to you either unfortunately... as much as I like the polished lip or diamond cut finish I can't be arsed / don't have the time to polish them every week or two and diamond cut finish just doesn't last!! so I had mine split, stripped and the outers powder coated high gloss silver and the centres a slightly different silver - bit more metallic. They had some kurbing and one had a fair old dink in the edge.... the finish is excellent... the lip isn't quite as 'chromy' as I was hoping for but overall they look really good, very pleased with them. powder coating is a hell of a lot tougher than paint so they should stand the test of time too!

They were'nt cheap mind 300 quid plus vat, but they did come and pick them up and drop them back off at my house...

I'll stick some picks up when I get some time

A few years ago i had a clio rsi, the wheels on that wern't split but the outter lip was polished, well it was when the car was new. when i got it they were in a right mess, i sent them to a company in woburn sands, milton keynes called pristine wheels. They where really good, they even picked my wheels up for me and sent them back! When i took them out the boxes i didn't know weather to put them on wall or the car!!!!! they were MINT!!!!! Cost me around £50 per wheel but like i said they where one piece wheels and 14".

I've used A1 Wheels in Wolverhampton twicce now. First for my old gloss black G60 steels (now sold) and then second time for my BBS RMs. Both times they did a great job, can't fault the level of workmanship. They take about a week to do the job.

Cost was £180 for the steels to be shot-blast, powdercoated and lacquered. And £400 for the BBS to be split then the centres shot-blast, powdercoated silver and lacquered and the rims to be polished and lacquered.

Cheers

The GTi BBS are £140 a wheel at Pristine, I had a quote from them.

That's steep. Seeing as in only paid an extra £20 at BJV for four wheels and an extra centre

So you paid £140 for four wheels, and £20 for the extra centre, lol how is that much more steep?

i read it as he paid £160 for all four plus a centre and at that other place it was £140 per rim. so for an extra 20 he got all his done as apose to just 1 rim.
