Hi all,

Just joined and noticed the other day that my Polo is missing one of it's headlight washer covers (no idea how!!!). Found out from the dealer that fairly cheap to replace unpainted but they wanted nearly £50 to paint it the same colour as the car (Reflex Silver I think).

My question is does anybody know where I could get one that is already painted?

welcome mate. if i was you i'd buy one, unpainted and spray it yourself. if you get a tin from vw it'l not cost much, and cuz it's not a big area the finish wont show up so easy enough.

Yeah, well easy to spray something this size yourself & will cost you the price of paint and laquer.

Personally I think if you take it to the right place, you'll be charged just as much to have it done, than it'll cost you to buy the paints.

Is the best thing to get some spray paint from Halfords and some lacquer or should I get official touch-up paint from elsewhere (dealers?) and paint with a brush?

I'd say spray paint and laquer.

Primer from Halfords is fine. For laquer get Tetrosyl spray laquer, and for a decent paint match go to the dealers.

I would seriously consider jsut taking it to a shop though, it'll cost you less.

Tim_GTi, did you mean buy the part unpainted from VW and then just find a local bodyshop?

If so, don't suppose anyone can recommend any good ones in the Sunderland/Durham area?

Yep, a decent bodyshop will charge you less than £10, if you provide the colour matched paint (£10 from dealers), they have so much primer and laquer lying around (and they'll use so little) they won't charge you for that. All in all costing £20. you amy get lucky though and they may have your paint already, meaning you'd save even more!!

That's much better than paying £5-10 primer, £10 laquer, £10 main coat and whatever sandpaper costs thesedays, plus the effort of actually doing it!

Tim_GTI, what do you think to seeing about a mobile sprayer such as chips away or the like?

I've never experienced anything like that first hand so I don't have an official oppinion, what are they're prices like du know?
