recently when i start the car, starts as normal, then the revs drop right down, it shudders violantly and then stalls. is usally ok if been driven just morning starts, i have to sit there revving the cr@p out of it or it stalls. any suggestions? I'm suspecting the airbox has something to do with it but really no idea

could be dirty throttle body or new airfilter, plugs or leads... long list.
When was the last service?
Try resetting the ecu. That sems to solve alot of stupid problems so im now recommending that to everything... even a broken gearbox....
(?!?!?!?!?!?)

mine used to do this what i did was took the airbox off, got some fuel injection cleaner started the engine and sprayed it down the throttle body till it was almost clean, now she starts first time everytime, have had to do this procedure about once a month thou! im guessing the throttle body is on its way out, could it be a sensor, i have a spare one its just getting time to fit it!!
thinking about it, has anyone fitted one here? is it hard?
thanks

TEMP SENDOR perhaps!
A nackered one will give a false reading to the ECU, which can't cope with the erratic readings the temp sender gives. This results in the ECU trying to compensate fuel mixtures etc for the readings its given. So basically it goes burserk trying to keep the car running and a wrong mixture causes the car to stall.
Its one of the issues with erratic revs
