wheres the best place to get german styles number plates??? and are they legal?? and what is the best way to put them onto the car??? thanks

I got mine at a show from Dubmeister. The Plate Man is also good. Mine are uk pressed style but they do also do German font aswell.
On the legality of them, well it doesn't matter if they are correctly spaced, correct font for uk roads and the correct colour, they are still illegal i'm afraid.
I run uk pressed and have had no trouble thus far but i keep my standard plates in the boot just in case.
I attach mine to my car using plate holders, also bought from dubmeister, and it meens that if i do get told to take them off, i can quickly swap them over.

I ordered mine off dubmeister.co.uk mine were proper German font but with the GB logo and the white front plate/yellow rear.

They are still illegal, when i got done for illegal parking (took the p***) the copper bent down to write my plate down, tapped them with his pen and said "these are illegal" i acted the innocent saying "are they really? why is that? they came on the car when i bought it" lol, but that was it. since then i havent been pulled over for them, but if you get pulled for speeding or something then depending on the type of policeman u get, they may/may not pick up on it.

but i carry my standard plates in the boot, just in case, so i can whack um in the windows if so desired by the law.

I fixed them on with Velcro

I've got two sets from eBay, cheaper than the dubmeister ones and just as good. They don't have as wide a variety though.

I don't understand the method of carrying legal ones in the boot? To me it's just a way of telling the police that you are fully aware that your pressed ones are illegal, and are just choosing to ignore that fact as an act of defiance?

Whats' the 'craic' with the 'legal' dubmeister plates that you have to produce your docs & be there in person to order, are they not considered legal? If not, how do they get away with calling them legal & conforming to BSAU145d?

If you read thru' it you'll find no mention of what material it has to be made of, only that the background surface has to be 'retro-reflecting' & not the letters.

I do it so that i could just say "was on my way back from a show"
but it's just a precaution, the only time i've had any trouble is when i denied the fact that i knew they were illegal.

Thats a pretty interesting read. Is that likely to come into power then? That 'show plates' will have to carry some sort of disclaimer?

'Show Plates' will look pretty naff if they use the 'shadow' background!

Will be some loophole if it ever comes in i should think. Obviously not come in yet, as far as i could tell.
