well today i was discussing with polo_sib today about 45 profiles on the front and 50 on back.

well im planning to get 15" rimz and was suggested 50 on front and 45 on back?

what are advantages and disadvantages to this? or good or bad idea?

just wanting to see what everyone else thinks and has anyone actually got these and their experiences?

would 5% make that much difference?

I have 195/50/15 on my 6n polo and i think it looks really good.

If you get 45s on the front there might not be as much rubbing issues if your not planning on altering the arches, my 50's rubbed a bit on the plastic arch cover so i just took it off and im no worse. depends if you like flaps or not haha =p

thats only my opinion, dont have to listen to me =p

Why would you want the different profiles?

Firstly it may knock out your speedo, and secondly would look silly.

45s all around

195/50's rub like f**k, secondly your speed is taken from the front wheels and ratio'd from the gearbox using standard wheel size and the 50 profile causes a error as its quite abit bigger than the standard wheel size, try explaining that to a cop when he pulls you doing 75 mph and your speedo says 70 or when a camera flashes? It'd be like "yea my tires are incorrectly sized so I can go faster" sure that will go down well with a fine and points as I've been there done that.

Part from that I am still going to go for the 50 rear and 45 front look yosin , think it might add some downforce, but don't know how handling will be effected and whether it'd increase wheel bearing wear as the car will be slanted? So I'm hoping someone else has done this for advice.

Yea basically, the front will be lower than the rears and the car would look more like a drag race car, and I imagine the angle the car would be at would give abit more downforce. But my worry is that it being at an angle could cause problem such as quicker/more wear on bearing etc, but we don't know as no one has seemed to have tried this approach.

Think it would look very unique as well, but I suppose its a case of trying.

Just get coilovers and adjust them so that they're higher at the back? Two different profile tyres is very unorthodox and has problems written all over it.

my 50s are fine and dont rub after taking the plastic shizz out.

Mine don't rub with the plastic, only at full lock where they touch the rest of the inside or when I'm going over speed bumps espeically with passenger in the back, plus I don't fancy being caught speeding due to my speedo being out due to me using wrong profile tires. Speedo being out is actually against the law! Like I said if you fancy being caught doing 75 when you speedo is saying 70 then its your role.

As for the unorthordox look, It might suite the car better than the coilies idea as you will just have a big gap at the back and it will look naff IMO whilst the bigger profile will compensate. Well I'll give it a go soon around August and post some pics, see how it works out as no ones tried it yet.

handlings still going to be poor if you aint using uprated suspension, nose down look would look terrible on a 6n i've seen it done and its usually when people have only adjusted the ride height on the front and not on the back yet.. i could understand it on a sweet jetta or vento or some kind of ghetto saloon but it would be quite pony on a polo IMO

Agreed, the drag look just doesnt look great on a hatchback.
