Does anyone have a definitive list of VAG cars that the G60 callipers were fitted to?

I.e. If I go to a scrappy, which cars are worth looking at?

I need a pair for a brake upgrade.

I have found a Golf VR6 1997.....The disks are just over 280mm, apparently they are the same as the corrado....

Anyone know for sure?

Yes it is the 5 stud hub.

The disks wont be the same...

Had another look this afternoon and the calliper looks similar to the polo one, but it has a wire antirattle thing on it which I dont recognise....

This is really annoying, I desperatly have to fit new disks and pads to my car...like in the next 100 miles...(4 days)....If I cant find some carriers im going to have to get standard disks which sucks! And im not changing once I have spent out on standard disks

Incidentally if anyone can sell me the G60 carrier I will do you a very very good deal on a set of LED conversions for your car!

I have a set of 500 mile covered standard disks

I have G60 carriers myself and am not aware of this anti rattle thingy - i think thats part of the pad is it not?

Do you have any pics of your current setup? Just so I know im looking at the right thing! lol!...

the rattle thing is not part of the pad it is ythere to stop it rattling and is part of the vr6 calipers but the polo and g60 capliers dont have these on

Those red carriers above look wrong tho?....

The spec for them says that they take 288mm disks.....so is that wrong?


Are the standard disks 265mm x20mm?

You can use the GTI calipers with the G60 carriers with no problems.

280 Carriers, Discs & Pads is all that is required. The GTI pads are the same as the G60 Pads.

If you dont mind postage from Glasgow - then have a look at www.scottishvag.net - as im sure there was a few sets on there recently!

If you look about you normally get a full setup with pads/discs/carriers for around the 150 mark.

pretty sure standard ibiza cupras have g60 calipers, tomo is using his in the mk5 conversion..trying to find one for scrap wont be that easy, but searching on Seatcupra.net for sale section is likely to bring some up (because of the brembo upgrade)

Right here goes...

The standard Polo GTi brakes are 256x25mm

The G60 ones are 280x22mm, but you can use the carriers off any car with 280x22mm brakes, even the 5-stud ones, so the list of donors is af follows...

Mk3 Golf GTi 1992-1996
MK3 Golf VR6 1992-1995
Corrado G60 & VR6
Ibiza Cupra 2.0 16v 1998-1999
Ibiza Cupra 1.8T 1992-2002

Those big red calipers with the anti-rattle clip in the pic are from a later Mk3 Golf GTi/VR6 as the very late ones had slightly larger 288x25mm brakes, and these arent any good to you.

Another way of identifying them is the 256mm and 280mm ones will have either lucas or girling written in the casting, and the 288mm ones will say ITT or ATE.

You can use the calipers off the with 280mm brakes along with the cariers, as you can then use the G60 pads as these are thicker so will last longer, but you will have to come up with your own solution for a brake hose as they wont take the Polo banjo hoses, and the calipers are wider so may cause problems with some wheels.

If you re-use the Polo GTi calipers, you will have to use the Polo GTi pads, but the 280mm discs are a bit thinner than the Polo GTi ones, as are only 22mm thick rather than 25mm, but shouldnt cause too much problems but I woudln't run the pads right down as the piston will be sticking out further than it normally would.
