Just bought a polo tdi sport. Its been lowered just on springs not sure by how much. Anyway over uneven surfaces it makes a considerable knocking noise at the front end.

Any ideas its been suggested the arb, wishbone bushes, top mounts etc. How can I check everything is ok.

How did you get on with this problem as Ive noticed mine doing the same.

Well I've hd a good look and I still can't see what the problem is. I'm leaving it for the moment and when I've got more time I'm going to renew all the suspension. I suspect though that it maybe the top mounts that are shot.

sounds odd, but check all your wheels are tight!

Yep all wheels are tight and the more I read about these Mk6 polos when they've been lowered it seems like a fair few have this problem. Some times mainly due to the Arb knocking. But I can't see that mine is catching.

As mentioned in another post got mine booked in for inspection and repair tomorrow. Hoping its not too serious and therefore a smaller repair bill

Well let us know what it is and the cost etc. Might give me some idea of whether to tackle it myself or not.

Ok so been to the garage and they have found worn wishbone bushes and the nearside track rod end is so worn that there is considerable movement in the wheel.They are keeping it until Monday so wont be able to report the financial damage until then.

I have asked them to fit a sidelight bulb but they have to remove the battery to do it.They have asked if I have the radio code but what do I do if I dont have it ?

No problem just found it stamped into the radio booklet in the owners handbook

Well I was under mine at the weekend and noticed the arb deffo knocks so that is one of my issues I may put it back to standard height to clear that up.

Yeah radio I ain't got mine either, let me knw how you get on. You can get it decoded but its more money

pah, you can do the sidelight bulb without removing the battery.... there's a post in the DIY section

I have not checked your other posting, but are you using an indep VAG specialist and if so are you getting them to replace the voided bushes with solid Ibiza Cupra bushes? Just replacing voided bushes with voided bushes is a waste of money!

I unconnected my arb today on my polo. I'm off to get a fabia vrs 21mm new arb tom and then gonna drop the sub frame and put it in myself. I reckon I can have a crack at the bushes to if I can get the console off but they don't look to bad so gonna leave that for another weekend. Already spent to much money so gotta tackle these issues myself.

Using an independant and I guess I will find out what bushes they have used when I pick it up tonight

Well I've just ordered a new roll bar from VW and then some powerflex bushes hopefully that will make things a bit tighter then I'll attack the console at a later date.
