What tools for cambelt change on 6N2 GTI (AVY engine)

Time has come to do the cambelt change on the Girlfriends 6N2 GTi, and want to know if I really need some specialist locking tools as Sealey seem to list a few different ones, and cant work out what ones are actually for what engines.

As far as the pins for locking the pulleys in place Sealey list either a VSE2357 or a VS1246 and I really cant tell the difference...

Apart from the later is about twice the price, and seems to come in a little red box.

These come with the two pins and the bridge to link them together, but am sure I read somwhere you only use the pins on the GTi.

They also list tools for holding the bottom pulley in place so you can undo the bolt, and they are a VS12470 which seems to have two pins coming out of it, and there is a VS12473 which has four lugs.

Which of them two is needed? Or is the pulley simple enough to get off without needing the tool?

Has anyone done a 'how to' on the GTi cambelt change? I did have a look, but couldnt find anything. Or is it not really a DIY job?

I also have a PDF instructions on changing the cambelt and tensioners from Autodata (its also on the forum somewhere)

The other tool you could get away with not using, If you found two suitable long bolts of metal rod to lock the camshafts in place. You are correct in saying that you do not require the bridge on the GTi.

It took me and a mate, (he's a mechanic) about 1 1/2 hours from start to finish to change the 2 belts and 4 tensioners
