I've got 6x14 inch ET38 with 165/55R14 72V(V=max240KMH) and 60/40mm lowering fits perfectly and no rubbing at all :) before that 6x14 ET38 with 185/55 and only 40/40mm lowering, but that did hurt my little polo :cry:

@Gilex:

Did you notice a difference in handling (understeer?) between the 185's and 165's?

Well to be honest the 165s are better in handling. Everything goes with more precision. only in comfort the 165s ar not as good as the 185s :)
but that mostly due the "smaller" sidewalls. They can't absorb all the "bumbs" that the 185s could.

But the only problems I had with these 165s, was trying to get them, there normaly not for sale in Europe, at least that was what the manufacturer told me. They had to ship them from South Korea.

Cool, thanks for the info. I have the same effect going from 185-55-14 to 195-45-15... Feels alot harder with the lower tyres on.
