Out of interest what makes you think that its not on longlife servicing? These cars came out of the factory set up for longlife servicing (I think - but I imported mine, so at least mainland Europe got longlife, I've forgotten what the "QC" number was) Have a look in Halfords and they list oils against cars/engine/servicing setting - so I think that their list quotes the "QC" numbers - so you will find out which oil grade suits your car's setting. That is unless you know that it has been changed - then you should see what the fixed servicing setting needs from their listing.
Maybe look up briskoda.net - and use search or just wander around, there might even be a thread in one of the general forums.

That sounds like you have the car still on variable servicing not fixed days/miles. Your oil will be fully synthetic and to the correct VAG spec. But surely they also gave you a nice lttle pouch to store it in! (I got mine on Ebay!!!!)

Nar they just slung it in the boot, good job I did not rag it on the way home would have made a nice mess of the boot if it had split open lol. Once did it with a tin of red calliper paint in my old car looked like I had killed someone in there lol

just slap 10w/40s in semi synthetic , and change your oil and filter every 5000 and it will never go wrong! sayin that mines due for a oil change!
