Just picked up my new car

and it has come with a MUL-T-LOCK. This is screwed in beside the gearstick so that you can put it into reverse and clip a lock around it when its parked up.
So the person i bought the car off said it come as standard. so do all you guys have this?
Just wondering because if so i dont know if this will give me trouble putting in the shortshifter

Definitely not factory-fitted kit though, I don't think!

Sounds like a good idea, make sure your insurance company knows you have it installed, could get you a decent discount!

Good god thats hideous...
I would far rather have a steering wheel to gearlever lock that can be stashed in the boot...
I cant believe VW would sell that as an "option"

Haha couldn'tve put it better myself. I can't believe someone ever thought that was a good idea! that is awful (no offense to you).
I don't think it would effect putting a shortshifter in to be honest, i can't see how it would, (other than the angle of the gearstick being slightly different).

On an old edition of Auto-Trader, Ed China took one of those off a 3-series BMW convertable, only way he could remove it was from underneath the motor. And yes, it looked hideous!

Hhhmmm I think it's pretty safe to say it's not just he pictures.
Like previously said, why not get a steering lock? That isn't a permanent dweller in the cabin.

yeah i might have a look at how to remove it but just aint had time...if its drilled into it underneath the car then i might just leave it as it is..safety first
