Interesting Discussion With Awesome GTi Today

by Jeff GTi
well i have been having thoughts about something for a while now so today i went down there to discuss my thoughts and see what they thought
as im sure you can all guess, im taking about going big turbo and Stage 3/Stage 3+ some time in the future
they had a talk over with ARP europe, who are based at awesome gti's offices
they came back with expectations of 340 BHP and 300 ft/lb torque going for stage 3 using the larger bosch injectors, maf and fpr coupled up with the garret gt28rs turbo
other hardware will include a quaiffe LSD, a helix clutch, new APR TIP and 3" APR downpipe
so to say were excited is a slight understatement,
they are going to get back to me on friday with some more information on timescale and costs, as they have done this before on an australian polo gti at their australian HQ
so just though i would keep you all up to speed on my plans and findings, ill update the thread accordingly as i find out more myself

Expectations of 340bhp.....thats gonna be a beast!
In fact, isn't your car a beast already.

its quite a handful as it already is yeah, but the one done in australia made just a smidge under the quoted figures
think aboutthat though, 340 bhp polo gti with a clutch and differential that can actually control all that power, another 117 bhp up on mine now, must be lightening quick

its gonna be a speed daemon...
the other day o was talking to some of my friends and i came up with a rather utopic idea. why not try to buy a golf 3 with syncro and ask the guys at awesome gti if they could fit the syncro into the little polo.
i'm sure it will cost you a small fortune, but imagine 340 bhp with 4x4... and 1300 kilos....

sorry to be a spoiler jeff but i know the car they are talking about in Aus. I have been for a spin in it. and while it was insanley quick (back to std now) it was never stage 3 it was just a K04

Stage 3 hasn't been done in Australia.
I was close to doing it but for everyday driving it wasn't a wise choice. I also didn't want to keep replacing CV's and the like. Traction in 3rd gear would be a struggle on the Stage 3 as I break traction in 2nd with the LSD + K04 with good rubber.

I knew what this was going to be about as soon as I saw thread title.
Jeff if you don't mind can you ask of they'll do an even better deal x 2 installs. Group buy anyone?

Tuning stages on Polo as I see them...
Stage 1 - no other mods apart from remap
Stage 2 - Full Exhaust and intake mods with slightly "stronger" maps
Stage 3 - Mods as above plus "bigger" turbo and injectors, intercooler mods.

Do you know anyone in contact who can do it at a more reasonable cost than APR using your maps?
I also need an A4 TDI 2004 130bhp mapped, its got a straight through exhaust and will have a panel filter. Trouble is I'm in London but could come up nearer your way.

flyfs6 - you can order something from atp in america - they have loads of kits...
I have a mechanic here who can fit it all no problem...
Or you just piece together yourself.....
How far do you want to go with the power ?
I just waiting to fit intercooler to my polo so I can max out the k04-001.... should be soon hopefully... just got a lot of work on at the mo and dont need the car in bits...
Audi A4 1.9tdi 2004 130 - £150 - if you just send me the ecu... (bit akwards to get out but not that bad) or drive up of course..
Cheers J

Thanks J, will work out re the A4 & get back to you. My Polo has the same engine modificiations as Jeff. PD160 intake, green filter, turbo back milltek (is it 2.75"), APR R1, forge hoses and FMIC.
Can any improvements be made still running the stock K03s turbo, IIRC on the K04 you are running 240bhp approx. By the way I am raving mad about your maps
