gti headlight trouble. help

hi. just bought a w-plate gti,and 1 of the headlight is knackered. where is the best place to get another? and how much are they?

Vag Parts sell them for 140 brand new.

I think they have gone up a little since. Its closer to 160 now. That doesnt include adjusters, ballasts, or bulbs either.

What do you mean by knackered?

Is it just the bulb thats gone, or is the whole unit totalled?

I wonder can you take off the outer glass and replace with glass from a standard headlight?

I reckon not, the GTi headlights are made to the spec of the xenon dipped beam, more heat resistant plus with the manual electrical adjustors....

@JDub, just so you know, each ballast costs at least as much as a headlight. The ballasts have a Polo specific rubber boot, so if you want to have the headlights sealed (which you do :) ) you have to buy the original ballasts too. With the bulbs and other bits I believe it adds up to £800 to £900 from the dealer
