Does anyone else here think the 9Ns have incredibly thin door metal? I presume there's a reason behind it, but I am currently suffering from multiple small parking dents on my driver's door.

It's really starting to annoy me - I only park it at work, the rest of the time it's in a garage. I think that someone only has to rest the edge of their door on mine and there's another dent to add to the collection.

They're only very small, and I'll get them removed one day, but does anyone else share this opinion?

i though that, but last thursday i was sat in my car at work and my friend opened his door and the wind cought it, it clatered into my door with some force. i darent get out as i though i might cry, but i did and there is barley a dent and just left his paint on mine, which will just t-cut off.

i think it must be when there is a door with a point, like their door bump strip and it gets a small area to make the dent.

That why when I park in car park I park as far away as possible, the g/f twists but hey its good exercise, but someone always ends up parking next to me lol

I find the same David. In the space of 2 weeks I got four dents down the side of the car, even with my very, very carefull parking!!

Unfortunately nothing you can really do but repair them, and hope it doesn't happen for another while.

But it amazes me how careless other drivers are about opening their doors alongside other cars. One of the dents was caused while I was sitting in the car, and the other driver knew I was there, yet still created a massive dent in my door! Needless to say I got out and gave off stink! And then recieved a nice letter in the post the next day from the lady, apologising profusely!

I'm married but yes I always get comments if I don't park in the most far away empty space, oh and yes funnily enough someone usually parks next to me!?!

On the thin metal note, it will make the car lighter and if the safety cage works okay then you are still protected. Door edges and trolleys are always a threat, I too tend to park both cars in the garage if they are not being used - but at work there does seem to be an increase in bumper rubbing (Passats are too long it seems!)

I'm exactly the same mate. I got fed up with it so park in the middle of two spaces pretty much everywhere I go now. My girlfriend hates it and some people may think it's being arrogant. But at the end of the day it saves my doors getting wrecked so I carry on!

If she keeps twisting about it am just going to tell her we will take the van or stick her on the bus lol

I always park next to people I know or far away, but you can't help who pulls up next to you if the situation changes.

It really hacks me off that some people just don't care about their doors - and as usual it's the people who do care that end up paying for it.

Exactly mate, couldn't agree more. My doors are the worst part of my bodywork, it sucks.

Yeh i've been getting this alot recently. It only needs a feather light ding to get a dent, and the dent guy who came to 'massage' them out said the metal is quite thin.

I guess it saves weight..?

Exactly the same here, whats with that?

Now me and my girlfriend have got a baby, so I can park in the parent & child bays, get extra room each side

..and Tut tut Tim; parking between 2 bays.

I have the same problem with my Golf. All my parking dents are from work! I always ry to park away from the rest but they still end up denting my car!
