where do you all get your disks from?

recon this is a good price or are they cheaper elsewhere?

I'd always pop to GSF for mintex or ferrodo

I found an awesome difference on my mk2 along with using pagid fast road pads. No brake fade at all but they we're a bit numb when cold. However it did have solid disks to start with.

Black diamond discs + pads are claimed to be a great improvement over standard on the Seat forum (www.seatcupra.net) - but that was when comparing an Ibiza FR with 288mm front discs against standard 288mm with standard pads - but I have no experience of them. On the subject of grooved and drilled discs, radial grooving will reduce any chance of gas build up, clear water and stop glazing - but I'd doubt that you would notice much improvement until you were in danger of encountering any of the possible problems I have listed. That is not a reason to avoid grooved discs though as the grooves are also an indication of thickness - when the grooves disappear it is time to change the discs. Cross drilling is a bit debatable with low or middle market discs - the Brembo Porche ones are a bit different though - so will be their price. I'd say in answer to your questions with referance to what others have written on this subject elsewhere, if you want Black Diamond then go for them grooved and get the Black Diamond pads. Of course changing hubs etc and going up to 288mm discs with similar Black Diamond bits would be even better!!

tbh the standard set up is very good. i just thought whilst they need replacing i might as well get them. will look better too i suppose. as well as the performance doesn't drop all is ok

On the subject of grooved discs, I've fitted ATE Power Discs (from ECP) to my Passat as that car has "rear" mounted calipers and they get very wet when not in use - so provide a few exciting moments especially when the water is joined by salt in the winter! That was the reason that I replaced the original discs with grooved ones. I've bought new ATE normal discs for my wife's Polo from ECP and just bought Pagid pads from GSF (VW fit Pagid at factory on the front and Textar on the rear - same company group). Yes, the Polo brakes seem to be quite effective if not just a bit vicious at first.
