Do u mean cumin in through the matrix or just in behind (under) it?

from the matrix I think he means. in that case the water would taste sweet I'd have thought (if you give it a little taste!).
otherwise:
- scuttle tray in the engine bay, check for blocked drain holes at the edges & check where the bonnet release comes in.
- if its got a sunroof check the drain holes around the edge of that when its open. water should come out near the door hinges.
- rust around windscreen. mine leaked here & its temporarily fixed with some sealant.
- door membrane, door seal (assume you've checked these).
Failing that sit in the car & get a mate to spray it with a hose pipe till you see water coming in. take the carpet out if necessary!

Take a good an d close look at your windscreen/glass and the Windshield seal. Its a polo "illnes" The seal is in most cases the problem. When you're not so lucky you'll find some corosion under the seal....

i've had probs like this n all, firstly in my mk2. that was bad, it was when it rained, had to bale it out a couple of times! wasn't coming throught the doors cause we changed the inner lining!
to this day, its still a mistery
i have now noticed it in my mk3, not half as bad but under the mats, it does feel damp/wet! really don't no where it comes from!

Mk3 polo's dont have the heater matrix problem.
It's more likely to be either windscreen seal, bonnet cable grommet or sunroof drainage etc. The door seals can leak, but the amount of water that comes in when they go is usually small.
Like hayesey and Gilex said, check all those.

well ive checked the door seals 1st as that was the problem on my original mk3 but on the GT they r fine. Thanx 4 all the suggestions ill have a good look at it tomorrow, well if the crap Scottish weather allows it!
Ripped all the carpets out last week just nt had the chance 2 check where the leak is cuming from.
Thanx again ebody!

On that subject, why does my windscreen seem to mist up on the "inside" of the glass?
IE not on the surface facing the freezing, dry but icy outside world, nor the surface facing the almost-freezing, moisty interior, but the impenetrable glass between the two which cannot be wiped clear?
It goes away with some extreme defrosting tactics, but can take a while... Highly annoying to wipe down what looks like interior mist only to not make *any* difference to it, nor the wipers.
(what was the sign of a bust matrix again - misting up/not clearing without a wipe on full heat, or full cold? can never figure it out but maybe ive got that ailment mildly - use 50% right now as a compromise)

That happened 2 mine. It was blocked wiv leaves in the battery area, dunno why that caused wet inside the car?!? But anyway I can remember avin that problem, and removing all the leaves sorted it!

Have you had an alarm fitted recently?
If so, take the door cards off and check the membranes behind them.
When my alarm was fitted originally these had been torn apart to such a degree that they let water in like a river.
Bloody dodgy garages
