Had a mechanic check me engine over as its been sqeeking like the alternator belt so he put some TALKON POWDER! LOL, yes talkon powder shut my belt up as im runnin no s**t guard under my engine cos of my strut braces,

So he did that and i showed him my leads and he went bloody hell to my shock, i went is that bad and he said i needed new leads and a coil pack becouse of the corrosion,

It looks like white powder and like the stuff on ur kettles, so i would check that guys, pull of the leads from the coil pack and look to see if there white inside,

If they are u need to clean em up or get a new set!

Got to order them now but was wondering if there are performance leeds for our engines???

Ne1 no of any??

Its not lime scale...

Its just corrosion where moisture has got in... Pretty normal...especially if your engine is getting a soaking every time it rains!

The standard VAG leads are actually pretty good.... I dont think you would be getting any sort of gains from any "high end" ones....

The VAG ones are good quality as well....so wont break down so fast....which is the cricital thing!

My mechanic said it was a build up of limescale like a kettle, an eliment heating up due to sparking and wen wet, limescale!

And corrosion aswell cos it gets wet due to moisture, not a soaking as such just fog and cold mornings that sort of thing!

Worth checking tho guys, Gona ring vw tomorow n get me some leads and a new coil pack, just easyer than cleaning up!

One of mine is like that, but it causes no problems. Plus, I have red HT leads which no longer exist!

As far as I am aware, there are no more of the red ones left.

Remember production finished on these parts in 2002 - whats left is left. Some parts arent even available anymore.

Certain parts they restart production for a short period on, but not very often
